The Pilates method is a physical training system that increases strength, flexibility, endurance and concentration. It focuses on the control of the body along with the mind. Through its practice, the conscious control of all the muscular movements of the body is achieved.
The creator of this system of movements, Joseph H. Pilates, called it “The art of Contrology”, the art of control. He defended the idea that by strengthening the “energy center”, free movement of the rest of the body could be achieved.
It is practiced with specific machines or on the floor on mats, always supervised by a professional, in individual classes or small groups.
Through the execution of the exercises the main objective is achieved: to strengthen this “Center” or “Powerhouse”. In this way, the energy is worked “from the inside out”.
